Life Safety Assessment deliverables include SOC drawings, a detailed summary of deficiencies organized by "The Life Safety Code", and a prioritization of repairs. The survey covers inspections of fire doors, smoke doors hazardous areas, above-ceiling areas, and egress paths. Additional services can encompass a comprehensive summary detailing the locations of dampers, extinguishers, egress illumination, smoke detectors, and door ratings.
This thorough process entails a detailed comparison of every space within the facility against the existing life safety drawings. HCT will meticulously trace each firewall and smoke barrier to identify any discrepancies, ensuring alignment with the 2012 NFPA Life Safety Code 101. We will also update the life safety drawings as necessary to enhance compliance readiness, including adjustments to suite layouts, travel distances, and the integration of all essential information
Each set of Life Safety Drawings will include a Compartment page, which is essential for quickly and clearly identifying the boundaries between compartments. This page facilitates the easy delineation of where one compartment ends and another begins. Smoke compartments, as outlined in these drawings, are critical for implementing horizontal egress strategies that are central to 'Defend in Place' approaches in emergency situations
To enhance compliance and safety within your facility, we offer an additional service that extends beyond the standard Life Safety Assessment. This supplementary service involves the creation of detailed device and utility maps for all buildings within the facility. This comprehensive mapping includes a wide array of critical safety equipment, such as exit signs, emergency lighting, fire extinguishers, fire alarm devices, fire pull stations, horns and strobes, smoke detectors, medical gas valves, electrical panels, and fire department connections. It’s important to note that this service is optional and not included in the basic Life Safety Assessment, providing a tailored approach to meet your specific safety needs
HCT can create excellent facility evacuation mapping of your facility, allow us to show you an example.
To enhance compliance, we offer a specialized service that provides thorough fire door inspections in accordance with NFPA 80 standards. This service, which is an additional and more detailed option compared to our standard Life Safety Assessment, includes precise reporting and detailed door location drawings. HCT also provides a comprehensive inventory of all fire doors within the facility, ensuring a higher level of detail and accuracy in our reports.
A compliance document review will assess required documents for completeness, and time frame mandates. The HCT summary report will detail areas of most to least vulnerability and include improvement recommendations.
HCT can develop a color-coded mapping process for your facility, utilizing the 2014 FGI guidelines and your facility drawings which will indicate the appropriate pressures for your rooms and air exchanges.
In accordance with CMS standards and The Joint Commission, our partnership with Fields and Associates allows for a complete assessment of your behavioral health facility. Surveys can include a doctor and a nurse with experience in behavioral health assessments.
